When to call about it

  • A breaker that trips more than once

A breaker doing its job once is protection. A breaker doing it weekly is a circuit that is overloaded, a failing breaker, or a fault in the wiring. It is worth finding out which.

  • Warm cover plates or a burning smell

Stop using that circuit and call. Heat at an outlet means a loose connection, and loose connections in a wall are how house fires start.

  • A Federal Pacific or Zinsco panel

Both were installed widely in older Broward homes and both have a documented history of breakers that fail to trip. Insurers increasingly want them replaced.

  • Lights dim every time the AC starts

Some dip is normal. A visible drop across the whole house points at the service, the panel connections or a compressor drawing far more inrush current than it should.

Electrical questions

Do you do panel replacements?
Yes, permitted and inspected. Panel work is where the license and the inspection genuinely matter, and it is not work to hand to someone who skips them.
Can you install an EV charger?
Yes: the dedicated circuit, the breaker and the mount. The first question is whether the existing service has the capacity, and that gets checked before anything is quoted.
Is whole-home surge protection worth it here?
In a county that leads the country in lightning strikes, and with an AC system, a pool pump and a houseful of electronics on the line, it is one of the cheaper pieces of insurance available.
